Hello world!

By | 1 November, 2013

All good blogs should start with a ‘Hello World’ post. It sets the scene for what is to come, what is to be expected, from a blog. It supplies the purpose, the morals – even the tone – which the blogger hopes s/he will be able to stick to as the early excitement wears off and the mundane routine of writing, reading and managing the site takes over.

Winter is coming …

Anyways, my name is Rik and I am the coder behind Scrawl.jsa JavaScript library designed to make using the HTML5 <canvas> element a bit easier, and a bit more fun!

And the purpose of this blog is to support Scrawl.js. It will include posts about what Scrawl.js can do, and my hopes for what it could be able to do as it evolves and matures.

There may be tutorials. There could even be live examples … if I can work out how to include <canvas> elements in a WordPress blog post, alongside the JavaScript code to make them ‘more fun’.

There will also be posts about other JavaScript libraries for the <canvas> element, for instance Kinetic.js, Fabric.js, Easel.jsRaphaël and Pixi.js – all excellent JavaScript solutions, each with their own strengths and quirks.

And I expect there may well be posts about other stuff as well: writing; publishing; kitten photos … but no elves! Never elves!
